I’m thrilled to share that the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) has chosen my book Berkshire Patriots: Stories of Sacrifice as a 2024 Award Finalist. This is a significant achievement, considering the book was selected from a pool of over 100 submissions. The book will receive a gold, silver, or bronze medal award, presented at MWSA’s annual banquet in September.
I submitted Berkshire Patriots under the historical genre. It was evaluated by three accomplished reviewers who gave it commendable scores in the four industry-standard areas: content, style, visual appeal, and writing.
Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) is a nationwide Association of authors, poets, and artists bonded by their military service and dedicated to honoring the military through their writings or art.
The Association assists writers through educational Zoom sessions, a digital reference library, scholarships, special posts on the tips and tricks of writing, a newsletter, and an annual writer’s conference that includes writing seminars and culminates with book awards for the year’s best submissions.
Several years ago, based upon the suggestion of a fellow writer, I joined the Association
, which has hundreds of members.
The Berkshire Patriots nomination is the second time my books have been honored. In the first year of my membership, I submitted The Boys of St. Joe’s ’65 in the Vietnam War for consideration. In 2023, the Awards Director notified me that The Boys of St. Joe’s had won a bronze medal in the history category.
As a finalist, I am deeply grateful for the recognition of my work. It’s a testament to the power of storytelling and the importance of honoring our military through literature. I eagerly await the September banquet to learn the level of award Berkshire Patriots will receive.
