The Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) announced it has awarded Dennis Pregent’s Berkshire Heroes in WWII-With Courage and Honor a Gold Medal for the 2025 Book Awards season.

The award was announced at the MWSA’s annual conference on Saturday, September 27. This is Pregent’s third award, having received Bronze Medals for his books The Boys of St. Joe’s ’65 in the Vietnam War and Berkshire Patriots-Stories of Sacrifice.

Berkshire Heroes chronicles the harrowing and self-sacrificing stories of twenty-eight Berkshire sons and daughters, who endured some of World War II’s most dire conditions. They served from Africa to Sicily, over the Himalayas, and across the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean and found themselves in consequential battles of Normandy, the Bulge, Okinawa, and Peleliu.

Berkshire Heroes in WWII-With Courage and Honor won the Gold Medal in the History genre after three independent judges scored it highly in multiple areas including Content, Style, and Visual appeal.

Berkshire Heroes and his other books are available on Amazon.com. Pregent’s next book Hometown Heroes in the Civil War – Berkshire County is scheduled to be released in early 2026.
